Investing in our youth

Code Three Delivery

Children are identified and preselected by the Chino Valley Unified School District to participate in this program. The Foundation provides funding for those children to shop with a uniformed Firefighter or Police Officer before Christmas. This program has grown from 35 children in 2001 to 100 children today.

“A Heart-Warming, Holiday Season Event"

"The Make a Child Smile Program is truly a community-wide event, resulting from the collaborative effort between the Chino Valley Fire Foundation, the Chino Valley Fire District and the Chino Police Officers Foundation"
Randy Rudolph
Late Event Director and long time program advocate

The Concept

The Make A Child Smile shopping concept was brought to the Chino Valley Fire District by the late Deputy Chief, Greg Turner. The Chino Spectrum Walmart has hosted the event since it’s inception in 2002.

The Beginning

Funding for the program took off in 2004 when local businesses, dignitaries, individuals and the Walmart Foundation responded to the Chino Valley Fire Foundation’s requests for funding through sponsorships.

The number of elementary – aged students that participate in this unique shopping opportunity has steadily increased through the years from 35 students in 2002 to over 100 students currently

The Bond

Participating students develop a bond with their public safety representatives as the navigate the aisles of our local Walmart.

Shopping for necessities and gifts for themselves and other family members. Students also have a personal photo taken with Santa Claus, receive refreshments and participate in a short craft project before returning to school.

Thank You to our Sponsors

Without our sponsors, volunteers and public safety participants, this program would not be possible!
